Raku is an ancient ceramic technique where the potter created his bowl and buried in the earth firing the clay in a fire pit. The result was a beautiful iridescent sheen on the clay of multi colors. Today the potter uses an electric kiln fired to about 1800 degrees.
ANCIENT RAKU POT
After working with fused glass for many years, I've come up with a technique to replicate the finish of the clay in glass.
Join us in this new and exciting class. Create an unusual classic vase with a matt finish of iridescent glass. You will have a choice of cold working your glass to a fine finish, letting the beauty of the natural colors shine on their own OR your choice of adding dichroic glass (optional), enhancing the design to reflect your personality.
