Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sign up for a class?

There are a couple of ways to sign up for a class.  The first is to call us and let us know the day, time slot and project you would like to make.  We can take your deposit over the phone and you can schedule for more than one person.  The other option is to sign up online.  You’ll navigate to the fusing classes at the top of the website.  Find the project you’d like to make and click on Book Now.  You’ll be directed to select the day and time you want and then you’ll be able to make the $30 deposit.

I have a Groupon how do I sign up?

We finally have the ability to sign up online with a Groupon!  On the homepage you'll find a link to book the class using a Groupon.  This will not prompt another charge, but you will need to enter your redemption code.  You can also give us a call or e-mail us directly with your information.

Are the classes appropriate for beginners?

Yes, the majority of our students are beginners.  We teach all the necessary skills to work in glass fusing at the beginning of every class.  If you are experienced you can let us know and we’ll let you start early, avoiding the tour and introduction.

Does everyone in my group have to make the same project?

No, you can all pick different projects.  The skills taught at the beginning of each class apply to all of our project.

Do we take the projects home the same day?

No.  Each project needs to be fused at least once which takes 24 hours.  Most projects require a slump and that adds another 24 hours.  Most projects are ready within a week of your class.

How long are the classes?

Classes are 2 hours.  If you are making a project that may take more time, consider starting in the morning so you can finish in the afternoon if necessary.

How long until the projects are finished?

Most projects are ready within one week.  If you need your project by a specific date let us know at the beginning of the class so the front desk can document the date on your registration form.

Is there a dress code?

We only ask that you wear closed toe shoes.  Also, in the summer it does get hot in the shop.  We recommend wearing loose, cool clothing.

Can I decide on my project when I get there?

If you really can’t decide, let us know and show up 30 minutes early to class.  This is because each project is prepped prior to the class.  If you choose a project that we don’t have a clear blank for, we may fall behind.

Can I change my mind?

If you want to change your mind, you can call us before the class so we can prepare the new project prior to class.  Or you can arrive 30 minutes prior to class so you can have time to decide and we can have time to prep.

Why do I need to fill out a registration form every time?

The registration form follows your projects around the studio.  They help us indicate where your project is in the kiln and the status of the project.  This is also how we contact you when the project is ready for pickup.  If you come with a group we use the registration form to group you together so all the projects are ready at the same time.

What is the age limit (youngest) that can attend?

My experience has been if the kids can use scissors, they can cut glass.  We have kid sized safety glasses.  If you are planning a birthday party or group, we ask that there are at least 2 adults to supervise.  But we always encourage you to make something too.

Do you have kid friendly classes?

Most of our project are kid friendly and kids always surprise us with how quickly they catch on.  They usually finish before the adults.  The kid friendly projects would be, monster magnets, fish ornaments, garden totems, candy dish, wavy bowl, vase, spoon rest, napkin holder, candle stick (a kid favorite) and 2 section plate.

Can you host groups?  What is the class max?

Yes, you can reserve a class for a group.  Our class max is 10-12.  12 gets a little tight and we’ve had up to 14, but they were smaller projects.  We can open a private link on our site for your guests to register or one person can register everyone.  Feel free to call us or send an e-mail for more details.  We can tailor the class and event to your specific needs including setting up an area for food and BYOB is available.

I’m a beginner, what projects are best for me?

It’s easy to list the projects NOT appropriate for beginners.  If you’ve never done glass fusing avoid the following projects:  coral bowl, wave, ice bowl, woven bowl, 3D butterflies, and lotus bowl.

What if we need to reschedule?

You can always give us a call or e-mail us to let us know about a reschedule.  Even if you booked online, we’ll reschedule you.  If you’re not sure when you’re coming back, we’ll record it in our system and hold your deposit as long as you need.

Do you do repairs?

We can repair some projects, it’s always a case by case basis.  If you have a piece  that was blown glass, we cannot repair it.  I’ve consulted with experienced professionals and even if we had the tools, the glass would get heat shock and break more.  The best we can do for these is glue it together.  We are always willing to do this for you, but we will not gatekeep how we do things…you can use E6000 glue or UV resin to reattach your piece.

I’m a fuser, but I don’t have a kiln, can I use yours?

Yes, we rent our kilns out by the square inch or the kiln.  The cost is 13 cents per square inch.  For a full Denver kiln (36 inches by 40 inches) the rental is $75, for the bathtub kilns (need measurements) the rental is $50.  If you’re doing a larger fusing project or have high volume, give us a call to check the availability.

Keep us up to date with your questions and concerns.

Don’t hesitate to tell us about cool things you see online, I love adding new projects.
